First you need to install "Suprekarma" and on lunching it you will have the option to download and all different kinds of widgets and from this list you can get X-ometer.
Very nice. I am also using 11.3 with KDE3. To add an even more professional look you can set a drop shadow for the desktop icon text in kdeglobals and you can use the polyester style with plastic window borders.
