1) Open file /etc/resolve.conf using any editor
2) Add your Primary and Secondary DNS ip at the end of the file and it should look like this:- (this is just an example, add the ip address provide by your ISP or your Administrator)
search localhost.localdomain
nameserver 192.168.0.1
nameserver 199.5.85.203
3) Save the file and exit
you are done

If you're using dhcp, won't it overwrite /etc/resolv.conf whenever it gets the nameserver?
Won't dhcp delete that information whenever it sets up the interface?
