Linux Distribution Specially for Children – DoudouLinux

DoudouLinux is a computer environment designed for children that is as simple to use as a gaming console. It is freely downloadable and contains about 50 applications that were selected on the basis of being easily accessible for children and/or dedicated specifically to children. Not to mention most were also selected because they are very fun and addictive! The selection includes educational and fun games, art-oriented applications (drawing, music), and work-oriented programs (dictionary, calculator, communication). Reading is not required for use and DoudouLinux is so simple that children as young as 2 years old can use it and quickly become autonomous. In addition, because most games teach along with entertaining, children actually learn many skills along the way.

But DoudouLinux is also easy for Dad and Mum. Shipped with detailed user documentation, DoudouLinux embeds a full system and does not use any computer data at all. It does not access the Internet spontaneously and provides parental controls with a smart and efficient web content filter. Thus, parents can let children use the computer by themselves, learn and have fun, without worrying about them damaging important data, altering the system, or visiting any of those "naughty" sites. Moreover, DoudouLinux does not need installing, updating, administrating, or scanning for malware and viruses - just as a gaming console. Turn it on, enjoy, and turn it off ....that's it!

DoudouLinux is currently available in 8 officially-supported languages (Arabic, English, French, Spanish, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, and Ukrainian) and 7 demonstration languages (Dutch, German, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Turkish, and Vietnamese). More languages will be available in the future as it is designed to be easily translated into more than 60 languages. This way, nearly each child on the planet can have it in his/her own language when he/she starts reading!
